Craig, thanks for the comment, . . . do you realize that this thread, and all the pictures are from last year's show? I just bootlegged the thread to advertise a get-together for breakfast before the BFI show (this year). And to top it off, I didn't even make it to the breakfast! I was headed down to the breakfast very early, about 15 miles from home (and 35 miles away from the show), when the headgasket let go. The fire ring blew out completely between #3 and #4, and was partially blown between #2 and #3. Believe it or not, we were able to drive it back home 15 miles running on 1.5 cylinders! Sure was noisey, and the engine would die if I let the rpms go below 3000, but we made it home, then jumped into the Honda Accord and went down to the show!ga.spyder wrote:I saw these a little late, but really nice job on all the pix. What a fantastic showing of Fiats. There may not be the quantity of FFO,but the quality is just as good or better.Congrats to Ace,your car is deserving of the award.I voted for your car for Best ibn Show at FFO,2 years ago.

There was a great turnout for the show -- lots of great examples of cars. I saw many folks from the Forum there, and had a great drive with the Fiat America bunch afterwards through the Santa Monica mountains and down to the beach at Malibu for a spectacular sunset. I'll start another thread to fill you guys in on the bad luck with the head gasket -- Pierre Benniston and I took the head off Sunday night when we got home, but I need to finish cleaning things up for a closer look before I can really assess what may have been the root cause. Probably just too high of compression on this engine to be using a standard gasket.
