now my fuel pump and all the filters are clogged with rust...now it goes for a minute then stalls....i disconnected the hose from the carb and fuel flow is not steady ...so i replaced all the fuel filters and then not even 45 miles later they are all clogged again....keep in mind it hasnt ran in 10 yrs....so i drained the gas tank...(a brand new full tank of course) and my gas looks like fresh squeezed orange juice...and no matter how many times i flush it out i still get chunks of rust and orange gas....what is a good website to find a cheap but good condition gas tank and will it cost less than 200 bucks?...or a few other options...thanks alot whoever figures this one out
I have a gas tank that you may want to use. No rust to worry about, but it does have a dent. The dent could be pushed out, and would probably need to be done, so that the fuel gauge will record accurately. $20 sound OK for a used one with a dent? If interested, send me your e-mail, and I will send some pictures. I'm at ventura_ace@juno.com. The tank is in Ventura, CA.

if the existing tank is not leaking, it is a great candidate for a thorough cleaning.
you'll not get the crud out of the bottom of the tank by changing filters. the tank needs to be taken off the car and cleaned.
it may be as simple as adding a gallon of solvent at a time, swishing it around and draining and straining it back out. reuse the solvent if you get large chunks out that can be strained....change to clean solvent when you can no longer get strain-able chunks.
boil if necessary
