Car broken into -- trying to steal?

Post by radiopilot »

I'm home this weekend and this Friday nite someone took my car covers (dust cover & rain cover) off my car and opened the door and not sure what their intent was... nothing is in the car except the registration and minor knick knacks in the map pockets. The radio faceplate was off the car so they couldn't steal that! I was lucky... I NEVER lock the car for reasons if the burgular wants what in in the car they'll cut the top to get in... lucky they opened the car nad sat in based on what I had in the driver seat... they couldn't steal the car because my wife's Jeep Patriot was on gaurd behind my car... :x

So what I did the next day was buy a 'shock/electrical drain sensing' car alarm and installed in the rear trunk, the door chime is now hooked to the car horn, if they open the door or hood/trunk the alarm will go off... also the battery has a quick disconnect with an inline fuse to allow electricity to the door chime/courtesy light... 8)

It just pisses me off the person had the nerve to take my covers off... I would have the car in the garage but my son's spider and my other car is occupying the space for now... maybe need another garage built.

At least they didn't tear things up for no reason. Still sucks being violated like that.

If you lived in South Africa it would be legal to have one of these on your car for security.

this is always a concern of mine when owing a soft-top, I have a hard-top for mine as well, but it just sits in the garage, at least no damage was caused this time, its a horrible feeling though knowing that somebody was in your car

Worse part is when it happens while the car is sitting in the driveway of your home. We have a 20' utility easement which is part of my property and I have bushes/privacy border and the house backs up to a preserve/creek then the road/sidewalks beyond that... it's here where people think they can just walk onto our property to avoid having to walk around... the privacy border was suppose to stop that... now I have intruder lights set up from the corner of my property to the front of the house... we have not had a single visiter yet (I have a video camera set up) except the occasional deer, rabbit, raccon, possum, and snakes... LOL

I like the flamethower idea... I'd seen where a taser was set up to fry the would be car jacker... sweet! :P

Some dirty bum got in my Dad's MGB when he was at work. They crawled under the tonneau cover and tried to pick the ign lock with a small screwdriver, (they left it). When that didn't work they stole his hat and gloves and split. He said it stunk so bad, (really was a dirty bum), it was grossing him out on the freeway with the top down! Now he locks it in the cage they have for the state vehicles. I never really considered the FIAT much of a theft risk, you'd think it would be a bit too obvious, (not like it's a white Civic or something).
I'm glad they didn't damage you car, but it sure pisses you off when someone messes with the stuff you worked hard for and on.
