trey, we have a 1438 and a 1608 timing cover. what we were trying to do is see if the 1608 would work because its aluminum and we wanted to polish it. i guess we need to locate a 1608 aluminum cover. the 1608 has a flywheel and clutch on it, and i have a bellhousing in my parts stash. i just need to se if it fits the 1608.
we are going to use the 1438 block mounted dizzy on the 1608, so we will need to swap exhaust cam towers between the two motors. this car needs alot of work, so it will be a test for chris. next we will drop all the front suspension and x member to totally rebuild the front end, chris finally realized this car wont make it to the best of france and italy show in november.
chris dosent post because he has given up trying to log onto this site. he has a hard time with it for some reason.

Out of curiosity...are your connections to the battery reverse colors from what one would think? My ground is red and my hot is black, and the first time we went to start the car, something very bad almost happened...I simply ask because our cars are very similar.

actually the ground cable is blue, replaced by the p o with whatever was available. the positive is black i think. on the other 70 both cables are black. when hooking up the battery i loook to see which cable is ground to the chasis.

That's interesting cuz I almost made a fatal mistake jumping off my 71 battery because the cable colors were backward.
