Re: Site Accessibility?
The other day I got a SQL Server Error when trying to access the site.
I think it was something like...
SQL Server error #### - to many open connections.
I'll copy and paste the message if I get it again.

Re: Site Accessibility?
I also could not get on for a great part of yesterday. I find that it is unavailable for part of the day on most days. Just my experience, and I don't have issues with other sites at those times.

Re: Site Accessibility?
I hear that donations improve your accessability.

Re: Site Accessibility?
I heard from Evan concerning this issue. His feeling is that our server is pretty much worn out. His plan is to move the site to a managed host site in the near future. This will require taking the forum offline for 1-2 days. Notices will be posted in advance of the move. This move should dramatically improve access speed and hopefully will allow us enough storage space for a dedicated picture section.
As always, donations are very much appreciated (and needed)

Shoot Alvon, I don't think that Al Gore had even invented the internet yet in 1969, if y2k was supposed to be bad 1969 has to be worse! No wonder the forum wouldn't work this weekend.ventura ace wrote:Test:

Re: Site Accessibility?
Hey Everyone -
I apologize about the outages. The one this weekend was a power loss - I was out of town (and off-the-grid) so I didn't realize there was a problem until I git back Sunday night. As Mark said, our server after many years of solid service, is ready for retirement. I have a number of other sites that I host and have moved them all successfully to a managed server location. FS.com is the last, and of course the most critical to move. The other sites were easy - this one isn't. I've been making full off-line backups every two days just for insurance.
Since the new server is remote, and it's a new environment, I'm having to learn the ropes on the whole platform. I'm going to do a few test loads of all the data bases before I even try to cut it over. I want to make sure everything is 100% before I throw the switch, and like Mark said I will give everyone a head's up before I take it down for the move. I'll just need to take it down long enough to shift all the data over - no more than a day, or two at the most. I have to take it down, or "freeze" it so that we don't lose any posts in the transaction. So have patience, as you all have had plenty of, and we'll have a new faster and much more stable platform in the very near future.
Mike, that's very nice offer you made in the post above. I really appreciate the support from all of you.
Stay tuned! I will keep all of you posted.
Thanks!
Evan

Ya Sunday I was like. "Come on work this time, come on...." with no avail. Now its working fine. The server must have cooled off.
