re-upholstery estimate
Anybody out there got there interiors done? I took some trim pieces over to a shop and got a estimate of 1445.00 These will be done in vinyl. Is that a fair price? The shop does some excellent work. I took them the dash, upper, lower center console, rear qtrs, arm rest, rear trim above rear seat. http://www.sargentupholstery.com I also called a place on the west coast who you ship your old pieces and he sends you new upholster pieces back. Still waiting on him to call me back. http://www.tonyimportcar.com/upholstery.html

all that for under $1,500 ??
while you're at it, aren't you doing the door panels too? that way all the vinyl would match.

JAVIER'S UPHOLSTRY
Funny, I was just searching for Javier's web site yesterday to refer people to. I've seen their work before, and it's primo, looks better than the original formed plastic by a mile. I was quoted $160 for the dash, $100 for the console and $85 for the radio consolered107 wrote: I also called a place on the west coast who you ship your old pieces and he sends you new upholster pieces back. Re: re-upholstery estimate
I got new door panels a few years ago and they are going to match the rest to that. I got in touch with the guys on the west coast and there price is much better. So I am going to pack my interior up and ship it to the west coast. There prices were amazingly lower. you can pretty much do your whole interior for around 2k.while you're at it, aren't you doing the door panels too? that way all the vinyl would match.

Wish I'd know about them before I spent a small fortune at Vicks replacing my dash, upper and lower consoles and buying used door panels off of ebay.

They did the interior seats & door panels of my car and I looked for a long time. It was under $1,500 including the door panels. It was leather/vinyl combo. Now, it was not Mercedes quality leather, but I was really happy with the job and turn around time. Shipping was a bit of a pain to work out, but it was worth it. You'll need your own UPS account. I shipped everything to them and they shipped it back. I have gotten a lot of complements (including judges) with the workmanship. I would use them again in a second.

Re: re-upholstery estimate
Too bad a vendor doesn't pick them up as a supplier.
Re: re-upholstery estimate
their prices are too high for any vendor to try and resell the items
Re: re-upholstery estimate
Before I did my son's silver spider I got a quote from Tonys' and it was going to be 2200-2500 for an all leather interior (not leather-vinyl mix) and that wasn't even the 'Mercedes leather' either and it wasn't even including the shipping from Savannah to California.
What I did was buy the leather and made my own and as can be seen by the photos posted I did did all of this for under $1000 and the biggest expense was the sail making sewing machine (Consew) over $500, but now having all this equipment makes me think I should do this for fellow Fiat/MG/Ferrari/ whatever interiors...
Just my two cents worth... oh and if you look at the photos in Tony's website... look at the wrinkles on the headrest/seats.... not something I'd want in a 'show car'.

Re: re-upholstery estimate
I do my own upholstery work and believe it's probably beyond some people's ability. I think for the money, Javier's dash and consoles are a bargain. Never looked into the cost of the seats, etc.radiopilot wrote: What I did was buy the leather and made my own and as can be seen by the photos posted I did all of this for under $1000 and the biggest expense was the sail making sewing machine (Consew) over $500, but now having all this equipment makes me think I should do this for fellow Fiat/MG/Ferrari/ whatever interiors...
Re: re-upholstery estimate
Fiatfreak... that's very nice and looks great, cloth is sooooo much easier to work with than leather.
I had zero experience with working any upholstery and felt intimidated, but I took my wife's sewing machine and started playing with different materials including leather and got the proper setting that would allow me to sew my own upholstery... lots of patience and weeks later got my son's interior done. Got a professional sewing machine later and now that job got done in less than a week for my spider... so yeah it's something anyone can do if they have the patience and time to do it... not saying it's something to be left to professionals... just saying...
I'm not implying Javiers' upholstery isn't worth it, just saying if you're going to pay 1500-1800 and that's without shipping it should be all leather and not a leather/vinyl mix, and at least a high quality leather.
It's what I would expect if I would use a local upholsterer here or anywhere.

(he gasps when he hears it's suede, and quickly pulls his sticky ice-cream fingers away)

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Your interior looks nice!
Can someone show me a pic of their fancy stitched upholstery center console and dash? I want to cover mine. I thought it would be easier to figure it out if I saw how the pro's did it. Thanks
