Heat shield under car

Post by amsiegel »

I got my passenger side floor replaced. The heat shield undeer the car near the trans tunnel is not on the car right now. I really do not want to drill new holes and rivet back in to the new floor plan. I know I should put it back but the piece goes right where the repair is. I let the car run for awhile and that part of the floor got warm nothing bad.

Any opinions. Should I leave it off or should I just bit the bullet and install it.

Thanks

find out what lead tastes like. it is easier to do it now, than wish you had done it... and interrupt your schedule to do it later

I would put it on if I were you. On that show GT Racer, One of the cars got hot and the rug caught on fire because of the exhaust. I don't know if our cars would get that hot. It would make it hotter under that passenger seat without it.

It's there for a reason. Exhaust gets pretty hot and especially right under there B4 the cat. Cats get hot enough to shoot red hot parts out the exhaust when their going bad. If it were me, I would do it. 8)

By the way, I love GT Racer. I have not yet seen a spider in there though.

My car does not have a CAT but I decided to install the heat shield the next time I go to shop. I figured it would be better to do it now.
