Any Advice?

Post by nickc »

Hi everyone,
Car is an '81 Spider Turbo, 49,000 miles, high compression pistons and engine re-build at 48,000 miles, turbo removed, ansa muffler.
I have the entire front suspension removed for new replacement; the crossmember is also out.
Now, what to do is the question. I want to take advantage of the removed suspension and check / replace anything that is a wear item and/or may fail soon.
So, my question is: Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do / check / change before I put everything back?
I am already plannin to remove the oil pan, inspect and replace the gasket. In fact, I do see a small oil drip, i need to find out where its coming from (driver's side of engine, see oil on pan).
Thanks,
Nick

Other than what you've mentioned, I'd take a very critical look at the front crossmember for damage and corrosion. Now would be the time to repair/replace/strengthen that area of the car, if necessary. How was the handling and tire wear with the old front end? Were you able to align within spec?
