Where is your antenna?

Most every picture I have seen has the antenna on the left side. Mine is on the right. The car is a 79. My best guess is that it migrated there when it was repainted.

The car was painted in a highschool shop class. Or maybe I was mistaken and it was a preschool shop class and they got L and R confused?

But, it is supposed to be on the other side, right (I mean left)? It is one of those little disturbing things that bothers you ... or me.

I wonder, are any of you shaving the antenna off? If so is there a hidden way of still getting reception? (ie wire under the trunk lid?)

The hot rod guys sell amplified antennas that mount under the dash. I don't know how well they work.

i'll be shaving mine off as soon as i go for the paint job. iPOD has eliminated the need for tuning the receiver...besides i loath commercials. Or, satellite radio is another good way to go and not have that stick-0-metal poking up outa the fender.

both my spiders have an antenna on the left rear fender... ihave seen cowl mounts on either side.

these things were dealer installed, with no advice given from the factory. many locations chosen, and many styles of antenna used.

My antenna is on the driver's side like most. I don't know why you'd want to shave it off. I think it makes my car look even more like a toy, with a tall antenna sticking out of the back. I rather like it there. I tried to affix an Italian flag onto my antenna too, but it blew off once I hit 60

Mine was on the front right fender but had to move when my car was converted to RHD. I opted to go for a 'hidden' antenna which is a small black box which I have mounted using adhesive tape behind (well, in front of) the internal rear vision mirror. The wire is black and runs along the rubber windscreen seal down the left hand side and to the radio. No disruption of the clean Pininfarina lines or possible rust initiation points.

That was cathartic. No deranged shop student decided to move my antenna around for fun.

I knew radios were optional / aftermarket -- but it did not occur to me that antennae would be too. Seems obvious now.
