Trailer

Post by racydave »

Thanks to a distressed company, and my boss buyin out the stock, I now have a new trailer!!! We love to camp out, and going to Bloomington IN with the twistys was a bummer without the Fiat. Its just big enough for the gear, and small enough to pull Italian style. And I can take my Bicycle too! Now I need to make a hitch.

Ron Luxmore came up with a good design that he installed on his spider. I think it would work well with your car. It gets support from the rear bumper and the floor pan of the trunk just forward of the bumper.

How about some pictures of the little trailer?

That's great Dave. We also love to go camping, and pulling the little trailer behind the Spider is perfect. Here's the plan for the hitch I made for mine. It's plenty strong enough for the small trailer and puts just about zero stress on the lower bumper tube because the main support is the two bolts up through a frame tube into the trunk, which happens to be dead center of the rear of the car.

I saw a pic of Ron's set-up and decided that it was very do-able. Since the gas tank comes out from inside the trunk, it should'nt be a issue. Do not have the tube bumper anymore, but I'll fab up something. Pics soon, Thanks!

No problem Dave, just remount the old bumpers! The extra weight helps to keep the car on the ground when you're flying low.
