Stalling out at stop lights.

It seems that when the temp needle climbs just a tad over 190, she will no longer idle at stop lights. Under 190, no problem. Even after the previous mentioned stalling out occurs. Any thoughts? Also, nearing 190 the rolling idle seems to come back. CHOKE?

at that temp, your choke should be wide open. is it?

Yes! It's wide open. Maybe some vaccume leak?

Maybe the radiator fan kicks in at that temperature (I think 190F is arround 90C) and thus it reduces your idle rpms till it stalls.

Mine also does that and I have temporarily increased the idle speed until I find some time to check any loose or corroded ground connections.

Mind did that. But in my case, when the fan kicked it, it pulled enough juice that it robbed my coil - my spark became almost nonexistent. It wasn't that the idle rpm dropped.

I found I had a loose wire at the coil, so that the spark was just strong enough to work until the fan kicked in. When I cleaned and tightened those connections (at the coil), the problem went away.

I'll check into that but, my fan does not turn on at all. I have put in a switch to counter the problem but it does not seem to change the stallin problem. Fan on or off.
