Trying to pick a paint color
Trying to pick a paint color
Went to the local Ferrari/Maserati dealership just down the road to look at colors on the cars on a bright sunny day. I recommend everyone to look at colors in the daylight. What a hugh difference according to the color swatches. You just cant see the subtleties in the swatches. Some colors were lighter than I thought, some were darker and some were a different color cast. The leggy brunet working the phones and appointments came out to show me her favorite colors and a couple of New Maserati colors that would work great.
New sticker on the windshield rates the green energy waste. Says that most cars are a 40 (what ever that is), Ferraris are a 10. A ten is not good...let me tell you. I told Amanda that if I were to buy a car that costs that much, I want it to rate a 0, if not a negative number. I want to see trees and small endangered fish dying as I drive by. LOL.

it's not enough that you scare the bejesus out of small children when you pass by? Now you want living things to die?
Re: Trying to pick a paint color
Viewing colors on your computer is a waste of time. I sat in the sun with the DuPont book. But I did go to a dealership to see Chrys new orange... Mine is GM-09
Re: Trying to pick a paint color
Dave, you are right, most importantly is watching the curves and creased in the metal change the color. Cant get that from a flat sample.
Yes, Aunt Amanda. Very Nice.

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Consider the light source
107,
The colour you pick is personal to you.
I agree that you have to put it on some metal.
Personally I believe that if you like the colour in the shadows, at dusk and dawn, that you will like it at its' full intensity under the direct sun.

Re: Trying to pick a paint color
There is a pretty strong difference between light and dark viewing. When we painted my car in the garage it looked like a royal blue, almost purplish colour, and in the sun it looks much brighter (and better, IMO) I really like how the paint lights up around the curves too. However I bought this colour after looking at swatches online, and seeing a picture of another Spider painted in it.
Re: Trying to pick a paint color
Does anyone know where I could find the color numbers for the original color options? I've got a 73 124 that "someone" insists be done as close to showroom original as possible. We were thinking dark blue and redo the interior in some shade of grey if they offered that color for the interior. The car's original color is red with black interior.
Found a Norwegian site that has colors and numbers but since I don't read the language I can't decipher which colors are for which years in the US.
Thanks!
