CS1-CS2-CS0 ?
CS1-CS2-CS0 ?
So I'm shopping for a top, and hearing about cs2, etc in the vin. My vin does not have any of that in it. Car is an 83, so I guess I need the CS2 style top? Provided th frame has not been swapped previously.
Re: CS1-CS2-CS0 ?
look at the vin plate under the hood or on the left corner of the dash rather than the door jamb

Wouldn't '83 be a DS?

This is the first I have ever herd about this can someone share more information?
Re: CS1-CS2-CS0 ?
Top sellers commonly reccomend checking the vin, as I assume it should have cs1,cs2, or cs0 somewhere in the vin, and this would help indentify the proper style top for the car. However my vin has none of these.Flyingthere wrote:This is the first I have ever herd about this can someone share more information?
Mark, if it ever stops raining here I'll check the car. Iv'e been refering to the title for the vin.
Kristoj - no DS in there either.

Need to check the chassis number stamped on the top of the firewall on the passenger side (not the VIN on the title or in the windshield).

They changed to CS0 in 1980 to accommodate the VIN# changes to 17 digits and the requirements that were associated with that. 1983's became DS

Re: CS1-CS2-CS0 ?
When shopping for a top, suppliers commonly use the CS-1 or CS-2 chassis designations. There are only two different top designs. CS-1 is for 68-78 cars, while CS-2 is for 79-85 cars.
CS-1 cars have a header bow with square corners.
CS-2 cars have a header bow with round corners, also the three cross bars are about 1/2" inch higher than the CS-1 top frames.
