Fiat round badge colors

Post by paook »

Our two Fiats have round logo badges with a silver on silver coloring (and showing a few years...). IAP and other sources have the round badges with a silver ring and red background. Anybody else have our coloring? I doubt that the color faded away that drastically, as our 1975 car sat in (what I imagine to be) a dark barn for 15 years.

Against your better doubt, the originals were red with silver. Your forgetting about the 19 years before it entered the barn.

My 80 FI has silver on silver badges but I'm sure its due to baking in the sun for 29 years.

74 and earlier did not come with front hood badges. They came with a big red grill badge.

My '74 has a red metal badge with a gold-bronze wreath on the boot lid (trunk). It is the original item. My front badge is on the bonnet and the bonnet was replaced. FYI the later Coupes (CC type) had aluminium 70mm badges on the bonnet which faded after a short time.

Both are stock fiat badges, On the left, is a gold painted wreath with enamel lettering, these last a long time in the sun and are more expensive. On the right is an aluminum wreath with painted lettering. These fade quickly and are cheaper.

It may be that the different emblems were installed durring different years, Good luck finding what emblems were installed on what years. When I got my car it had both styles, one on the hood and the other on the trunk. I made sure they are the same better version now.

It could also be a dealer upgrade option.

The one on the left is what my 72 came with but I noticed this silver disk with nothing on it on my 82 X19. It seemed strange that everything on the emblem faded away.

The ones on my '82 and the big bump hood going on my '72 were faded to silver with just a ghost image of where the writing was. The grille emblem on my '72 is still really nice.
