Badge Removal

Post by katsi »

I need to remove the badge from the hood and I don't want to do any damage to the hood or the badge. Does anyone know the proper way to get them out without making a total mess out of the hood?

My 80 badge has two posts that come out of the back of the badge and are just pressed into plastic keepers. Use a plastic tool that can get under the badge and slowly pry. Earlier versions may have had screws, not sure.

Katsi STOP!!!! under the hood ,below the hood badge is usually a rubber cover.(there is on my 80 anyway) That comes off straight forward. Then you can see/feel the little plastic plugs that go over the studs on the badge. The good ol needle nose pliers will grab those suckers and with a bit of finess wiggle off.
Then have a brewski

Thanks "Narfire". I did find the plug and was thinking of just clipping everything off and then thredding the posts and lightly bolting them back on - if that is even possible.
