We removed my windshield before having my car painted. We are now trying to piece it all back together, but the windshield isn't going on right. Once bolted in place, there's still a good 1/2" gap in the front-bottom of the windshield. It doesn't touch the top of the car any more... Anybody have this problem? Any suggestions?

the trick is getting the lower weatherstrip into the channel correctly

Thanks, Mark! We thought that was it, but were just wanting someone to reassure us that was our problem. Back at it in the daylight...

I'll assume you have the cowl removed? If your seal is old and hard, try soaking it in hot water or use a hair dryer to soften it up some

Does anybody ever lube the edges of the windshield where it sits in the rubber gasket? I've had two windshields stress crack within an hour of installation. I think the rubber and glass were too clean and could not slide on each other to equalize within the frame.
