Re: Reupholstered Red Spider
Awesome job Nick! The new members of the site should be told that this is the 2nd one Nick has done. The first was for his son, and it blew me away. I admire your workmanship very much.
I tried to go back and copy the thread showing the work you did on your son's car and all it showed was "image". Could you show the new members a couple pics of the interior you did on his?
Ron

Again thanks everyone for the kind words, I hope everyone doing their current updates on their cars will be inspired as I have, these are easy and very fun cars to work on.
Ron... Thanks I figured you'd like the work on the car. I had to remove the pics because of reasons due to storage space on the webserver (Earthlink only allows so much webspace), anyway the pics on my son's Spider are now back on the server...

Thats a beautiful interiour, seeing a spider interior like that gives me that little boost to push on with mine!!
Re: Reupholstered Red Spider
Today I install a new tan top on the car, I had the top for my son's car but I like the black top on a silver Spider... let's hope I don't screw up putting the top on, I read about putting a new top/removing the old top but have reservations I'm overlooking something... if all goes well I'll post a pic.

Pic of the new top, all went well without a hitch... real tight at first but it loosened up after several opening and closings. Looks great compared to the dingy top before!

Looks Fantastic Nick!
Where did you re-locate the heater fan switch to?

Re: Reupholstered Red Spider
Wow, really nice!!! Like what you did with the console, how did you make that brake boot?
Re: Reupholstered Red Spider
Thanks, I located the switch under the dash out of sight... we don't intend to use the heater at all since we don't drive the car in the winter here... maybe. I also disconnected the heater tubes because I did not want heater fluid leaking out of the valves, no need for a warm season driver.
The brake boot was trial and error till it came out right, it's not complete yet, I'm still looking for a way to attach it to the wood so there isn't any visible opening similar to the gear shift (it's got a metal ring that holds the gear boot in place).

Re: Reupholstered Red Spider
You dont use the heater? I suppose that no girls or woman will be riding in the car then. Woman have no internal heat generating in their body and always get cold when the temp gets lower than 72°. LOL I'm just saying! Just keep a sweater in the back seat.
Re: Reupholstered Red Spider
Nahhh... my wife loves this car and goes riding with me every chance she gets. I know what you're talking about but she gets by without the heater... no complaints there. It's really warm and sunny these days here.
