So after all that work, its the simple stupid mistake.
So I removed the master cylinder, and good thing I did, because it was dirty. I cleaned it up, bled it like mad, and returned it to its home. I then re bled my system, only to find frustration once again.
Then a lightbulb....
Way back I had a suby, which I grafted some newer big brakes to. In the process I mounted the bleeders downard, which in reality meant I just had the wrong calipers on the wrong side. This would be obvious, or not possible with the stock setup, but with my upgraded Civic based setup, its very easy to do.

So obviously the fronts would never bleed with the needle pointed downward, and the master would feel like mush.
I tested by removing the calipers and orienting them differently with an aluminum block ensuring the piston didn't shoot out. Sure enough problem solved.
Less learned, but always to late :)

OK, I think you guys cursed me! I had a hell of a time bleeding the brakes on my '72, I tried the one man bleeder, vacuum pump and wife, nothing worked. I got frustrated and gave up three seperate times. I decided to give I one more try tonight before setting it on fire and rolling it off of a cliff. At first no pedal as normal, then I decided to loosen the caps on the reservoir, (I had been tightening them because I was afraid of fluid splashing out on my new paint). Suddenly fluid started comming out the calipers and the fluid leval dropped drastically, somehow I got a big air pocket out! Holy Moley! I've got brake pedal! I've never had this problem before, I wonder if that's why it worked better when you uys used the power bleeder?
