Here we go ...The p/o says it's a 78.I havent gotten the title yet,so who knows. The stamped cowl, vin plate, plate under hood, and door plate all match. The door says built in 11/76! SoCalMark posted that it didnt look like a 78 motor(correct..of course..He's always right).I found a little round stamped plate on intake side of block,it says: 132CBIA and under it 4194206.Here are a few pix,my question What is it ? What size motor? what carb? or basically...What the hell did I buy???
Craig
I honestly have no idea about the size ,horsepower, carb, fuel pump ,or anything about this thing.I will learn,I promise!!!

The cars serial # 117xxx makes it a 77. Engine looks like an 1800. Engine looks pretty clean. But you know how Fiats are. It could be a Frankenspider!
That number you gave "132CBIA and under it 4194206, is the part number for the round cover that seals off the top of the oil pump driven gear.

Yep, thats a 76 alright. The dash gauges also give it away as not being a 78.
1800cc block
1800cc head
dual plane intake manifold
32ADFA carb
Externally regulated 45 amp alternator
It should have an electonic fuel pump in the trunk by the spare tire.
The electronic ignition and rims are nice bonuses. It looks like it was well taken care of.
I'd start by replacing all the fluids, the timing belt, and all the fuel supply and return hoses before venturing too far from home. Consider replacing all the hoses and belts. It it runs good and drives ok then focus on the brakes to make sure it will stop.

Re: Lets play ''Identify Craig's Clunker''
It looks like sombody did a re-wire job and pulled all the internal mess out and put it in the engine compartment. Probably would have been a lot easier to follow wires. But, who knows. Maybe it was assembled by "the new guy" at the fiat plant

Re: Lets play ''Identify Craig's Clunker''
I think the guy who wired it is a reject from the spaghetti factory. It is a mess, but miraculously everything seems to work. The brakes work well, and the suspension has all been redone. It does have an electronic fuel pump in the trunk, and is electronic ignition.Any obvious reason to think the motor isnt the original? Where would the serial number be on that motor,so I could check it against the one on the build plate? As I checked it over in more detail today,I think I made a great deal.I have seen parts cars go for what I paid for it!

Craig, Look just above the motor mount bracket on the drivers side. There should be a flat spot on the block that should have the 132 number for that engine.

Re: Lets play ''Identify Craig's Clunker''
that mess of relays is how the 75=76 models came from the factory. Originally all of the relays clipped together, but there was still a mass of wiring beneath them. From the looks of everything, you've got a late 76 model
