Stink Removal
OK all you wild-life lovers - I need some help.
I just bought a '74 spider which must have been stored for a bit. When I finally got the trunk opened (still working on getting the lock/latch squared away) I found the leftovers of a great winter varmit nest! Argh.
The paint is stripped away and surface rusted from the pee. But that's the easy part. What's tough is getting the stink out of the trunk and cabin - I tried spreading baking powder all over and then vacuuming it away. That made it less - but did not remove it all.
Let's hear some ideas [NO Tomatoes baths, OK? ]

Re: Stink Removal
Well, I tried some Febreeze on the inside. It replaced the smell with a more pleasant one,.. but it did not last
I hadn't thought about using vinegar,.. hmm, would I end up smelling like a french fry?
I am hoping to get the vehicle stripped and painted this fall. Maybe the smell will get removed or covered up by the strippers, cleaners and paint?

Lysol? Maybe the cure would be worse than the disease?

Maybe an ozone generator? As long as you stay away from breathing it.

Re: Stink Removal
Get one of the enzymatic cleaners like "Nature's Miracle" - you can get it at Petsmart. Liberally spray down the affected areas. May take a couple of treatments, but that will probably work.

Re: Stink Removal
The cheap way for the parts that are not cover in frabic try a 1 part bleach to 10 part water solution. Spray it down and wait a few minutes to wipe it up. Rinse with just water. Do not let it sit to long and do not use a stronger solution.
There is something my wife buys off of HSN called something Oderenz. Make a solution with that and wipe it down.
For fabric parts take them out and spray them down with one of the carpet shampoos for pets. them vacum them off.

Re: Stink Removal
I recently had surgery to my ankle (yep, clutch foot) so I haven't done a thing about this,... yet.
However, I may end up having the paint "freshened" so perhaps the idea of sand blasting isn't too bad
But, for the short term, I will be trying out your great ideas!
Thanks all.
