132A 0404

Post by chr535is »

Just received delivery of an engine block purchased from ebay. It was advertised as an 1800 and before bidding I requested block stamping # located near the oil filter. I was told it was 125BC which is what I originally seeking but having no luck finding. Assuming this was a 1608 replacement for my 72 spider, I bought it. When I received it I immediately checked the stamping only to find 132A 0404. OK, I thought, an 1800. Not the end of the world. When I asked the seller where he found the 125BC # he told me it was on a part fastened to the block. Any way, in checking the 132 A 0404 code this may have come from a sedan. The block is in good condition and I have a head and intake from a 132AC engine which I think will fit.Any thoughts out there? I hesitate to continue a rebuild only to possibly find, after spending good money, that I started with an improper block.

Thanks!
TJC

According to Brad Artigue's EMM (http://www.artigue.com/?page_id=30) the closest I could find was this:

Year 1974
Series 124CS1
From S/N 71650
Engine 132A1.040.4
Disp 1756cc

those early 1800s had about half a point higher compression than the later motors, but they were interference motors. The difference was in the smaller valve reliefs
