Things might get outa hand here but have to ask. I've recently, with Launie's help, purchased a 72 in Victoria that needs a bit of work to get going. Looking around on Craigslist, saw another outside of Galgary (72) says it runs fine but the shock towers are pooched and need replacement as do the front floors.
I have a couple of parts cars that have just fine looking shock towers and floors. They are a 79 and 81 ,wondering if the shock towers will fit into a 72. I have access to excellent cutters and welders.
I could end up with more cars than logs at my mill.
Thanks for any info/insight
Chris

Re: shock tower replacement
I just had the shock towers replaced on my 75 spider. The parts were from Vickauto.com and likely for the later models. The body shop had to modify the parts slightly to make them fit. They took about 30 hours to remove/fit/install and finish the areas. I think it would be wiser to start with new parts so they won’t be distorted before you start. The side effect is that the front is about ¾†higher that I like. But it does look and feel a lot better. I also replaced all the suspension parts I could find.

Re: shock tower replacement
Thanks Terry.
I've started to drill out the spot welds on the 79 parts car with varing degree of success, easy to do with the engine out,but going to have to use a rt. angle drill on the 72 I picked up from Calgary yesterday. I don't really want to remove the engine if I can help it, but the guy doing the welding will make that call. I have to change the floor tubs as well.
The car does run well and all the electrical is great, seats, consols are all in 8/10 condition. I hope the re&re of the structural parts can be done,I'd hate to see this used as a parts car.
