What are these studs for under the car
What are these studs for under the car
So on my spider. The passenger side between the rocker panel and the frame rail there seems to be 4 sets of 2 studs space about 8" apart but going for about 2' . The main frame that runs perpindicular to the frame rail has this "arch" as if for an exhaust pipe. Then the 4 sets of studs hanging down in my opinion would have been for an exhaust heat shield. Now I could be totally wrong but i am making an educated guess here. So does anyone know what I am talking about? I highly doubt its for a shovel and rake. Aparently I don't know how to insert an image because when i click img. This thing shows up.. [img][img][img][/img][/img][/img]
Re: What are these studs for under the car
you need to post your link inbetween the img brackets
If you have a late model car, there were heat shields above the catalyst and tubing on the right side

Re: What are these studs for under the car
Sounds like that was previous owner work, because the heat shield brackets were spot welded and aluminum pop rivets held the shields on.

Re: What are these studs for under the car
The car is Originally a 1977 Non Catalist. This could be why their is those studs. So If you have an Egg Salad Fart Converter it goes way over to the passenger side right next to the rocker panel?
Re: What are these studs for under the car
All car sold in the US in 1975 were required to have a Catalytic Convertor.
Re: What are these studs for under the car
Maybe in Cali they are required. But not where ever mine was from. Even has a big silver tag clearly saying NON-CATALIST.

Yes, my '78 - bought in Canada - has those studs but never had or required a cat. It also has a nice lump in the passenger footwell under which the cat would live.
