Rear bumper
I recently ordered and received the rubber gaskets that fit between the tail light and the body from IA. The ones I got were somewhat shorter in length (left to right) and were wider by almost 1 inch. They thought that what they sent was correct, but will check. I have fitted new lenses in the tail assembly and they fit fine, so I know the tail light housings are correct.
Can any one throw any light on this ??

Re: Rear bumper
Fiat made 3 different rear light designs. We have to know what year your spider is.
Re: Rear bumper
and, it prolly would help to see a picture of your tail lights.
i know of more than one car where the lights were swapped out to a different year. that is, unless you are positive that your lights are correct for your model year.
just a thought.

It is a 1977, and from what I gather, is the same as any I have seen from 77 up....were there different ones made for 77 up ?

Re: Rear bumper
I've found its usually not worth the price or the hassle to obtain some of the various gaskets. The good ones are the door jamb gaskets, hood gaskets, and trunk gaskets. The ones to stay away from are the vent window gaskets and apparently the tail light gaskets.
Some guys have had success "re-conditioning" the tail light gaskets. Try soaking them in used oil for a few weeks. Some solvents like Acetone will soften them up, just proceed slowly and test a small area before going full scale. Thats what I did to that rubber shock boot I just sent you. Thats what took so long, I was soaking it in oil hoping it would soften up more.

Baz, the tailights underwent a big change in 1979: Ventura Ace's '70 is on the right, my '82 is on the left for a comparison of the difference:

Oops!
It will be correct though, if you look at it in a mirror.

Re: Rear bumper
Aha.....It would appear that my lamps are the same as the Spidy on the left....er....the split bumper car. I'm sure the ones I received from IA are for the car on the...um...opposite side. I will give the oil idea a shot and see what comes up if I don't get a response from IA.
Thanks men..very much.

Re: Rear bumper
Where the 79 and later were wider at the outsides then the inside, I will not show a pic of them, two earlier designs were straight. I stole these from Denise to show the two different designs of the flatter designs.
Hope this helps

Re: Rear bumper
the replacement light gaskets aren't very good, they're not oem and don't fit properly. Just like the vent window crap
Re: Rear bumper
UGG...the vent window crap mark is referring to is 50% of the reason my vent window clasp on the passenger side will not stay on the window.
if this is the case, buy some sheets of foam rubber and cut your own.
