Hello, I am sweaty , tiered and puzzeled. If you could look in your trunk (especially those of you with a 78 or newer) if you could open your trunk and look down to the left where the wiring harness comes out, you will find a bunch of wires. In those wires you will find one blue wire with a white strip running down it - or white wire with a blue stripe - whatever . Anyways, the stripe runs the length of the wire. WHERE DOES THAT WIRE GO? I can not find it on the wiring diagram.
Also, you will find a similar wire (stripe running lengthwise) that is black and red, or red and black depending on your perception. The key to this wire is that it has a plastic clip on the end of it that connects to something - WHAT IS THAT SOMETHING
Finally, find Mr. yellow and black that runs to the tail lights and ALSO to the little square light in the trunk (trunk light). If you gently pull down on that light housing, it will slide off. If you could tell me what kind of BULB is nesteled inside there, I would greatly appreciate it as mine is just an empty circle wishing for a bulb.
Making progress, my head lights work, the new turn signal assembly went in easily and the interior courtesy light comes on when the door is opened. Cig lighter light works awesome as well as the drivers side, front running light. The other 5 are a now show. I have run about 16 new wires tonight and am puzzeled on these last 2.
Thanks.
Look in your trunk and tell me what you see!

Fiats came from the factory wired for radios, and a power antenna. A lot of the dealers didn't know when they installed the radios, hence the tendency for owners to find a "birds' nest" of wiring behind the radio console.
That little light in the trunk is: A 12V light that you find at an auto parts store that will fit in the hole. That light is on only when the lights are on, which means your keys are in the ignition. So how do you open the trunk when your keys are in the ignition?
If you wipe off that "black" and red wire with some cleaner I think it will be light blue.
The L. Blue/Red wire and L. Blue/White wires are for the power antenna. Do you have two L. Blue/white wires? One goes to the radio. The power antenna, current receptacle, radio, and power antenna switch all share some wiring. You will also find the power antenna wiring up in the radio console.
Do you have a wiring diagram?

Thanks guys, that answers my questions. Yes, I have a wiring diagram but I never thought to look at the radio. I didn't even know their were electric anteni in the 70's.
That whole flashlight thing in the trunk definatly needs some re-thinking?

since the battery is in the trunk, it is not difficult at all to getta 12v light assembly with a push button switch added to somewhere convenient in the trunk. piece-0-cake
most parts stores sell a replacement dome light with pushbutton included, under $10 including the bulb

I was actually thinking about that during my lunch break. Although, I was thinking more along the lines of one of those red glowing toggle switches. Just saying that outloud is kinda fun - Red Glowing Toggle Switch- But, I decided that a flashlight with a magnet attachment on the underside of the trunk would work about 1000% better an be much more practicle.
