Good morning Henry. The lightened flywheel will help a bit in acceleration and a shaved head(cylinder) will help a bit with the compression. As for increasing hp,I understand, if I have read thing right, one needs more air and more fuel to make more fire and then more hp happens.
Tinkering with the head and flywheel helps as does a set of headers, but neck snapping acceleration ain't gonna happen. I've got that set up at the moment and am very happy with the slight change. The car pulls past the 85 mph easily but I stop around there as the ticket is about $250-300 cdn. (40 kms/hr over you get whacked in the wallet good)

Thats good to know as that is what I'm in the process of doing at the moment with HC pistons as well, for my FI. Currently I shaved a bit of the stock head and lightened the flywheel and headers. there is a definite improvement, but not what I would consider huge. I'd love to try your set up,probably would'nt get the grin off my face for a few days.
