Fuel Tank Replacement

Does anyone know if you can replace a carbed tank with a FI tank and what needs to be done other than replacing the sending/pick up unit? I was refurbing the old tank and kept finding more and more pin holes under the paint and undercoating. The rust probably kept the holes plugged until I started messing with it
