Replaced driver seat

Post by amsiegel »

I am planning on redoing the original drivers seat (the seat pan has big bowling ball size rust hole) but it is towards the bottom on the things to do list.

I decided to walk around the you-pull-it lot and see if there was something I could use for a drivers seat. I looked in the small cars and other convertibles to see if anything was the right size (hight, length width and rail bolts). Jokingly I looked into a early 80's Iszuzu trooper. I double checked the my messurements and the trooper seat is very close in size. I brought it back and istalled the spiders seat rails and it fits in the car. The back part is a little wider near the top but it is perfect for where I like the seat. Once i throw the seat cover back on the 2 seats look the same.

Oh yeah? I'd need some proof. A picture would suffice.

The Izuzu seat looks nice in there. You should go get the passenger side?

Do you sit any taller?

I have thought about getting the passenger seat. The seat feels about the same height as the old seat did with a thin piece of plywood over the hole. Trooper seat might be a little higher is definatly wider front to back.

Looks like a nice fit. It also looks like it's going to be comfortable. With a little tweaking you should be able to twist the back so it would feel more original.
Thanks for the pics.
