Source for Right Door Lug

Post by SpiderLover »

The passenger side door lug fell apart into little rubber pieces today.
(I hope I have the terminology right. It is the wedge shaped rubber piece on the end of the door, opposite end from the hinges, that aligns the door when it is closed.)
Does anyone know of a source that is reasonable?
I did a search on the web and all I can find is Vick Autosports, who lists the left and right as a single set for $25.50, plus $7.49 for shipping.
Door is now difficult to open unless I do it from inside and lift the door up at the same time. It's for the convenience of the wife, not me, but we all make sacrifices in the search of peace.

Thanks,
Ned

those lugs are important. I believe the absence of them contributes to cracking around the upper door hinge. Try Bruce's Parts Bin for price comparison

of course, not every catalogue parts supplier puts every single part they have in inventory into the catalogue. it never hurts to email them or call.

i see that IAP sells the same set for less than Vick in their latest catalogue. of course, prices change.

i suggest the set, cuz if the passenger side fell off in pieces, the driver side prolly is not too far behind from doing the same thing. in fact, based on usage, the driver side should have already done so.

I just replaced mine a month ago with the set from Vicks. Oh do be careful when taking screws out. First they will be very tight, second, if you jusdt remove them both, there is a good chance the bracket they screw into will fall inside the door. May have been welded at some time, but not on mine. Real pain to retreive. So take them out one at a time and put on new one with one screw, with the stop rotated. Then spin into position to get the second screw in. I replaced my normal screws with Allen heads.

Good luck, but agree they need to be replaced.

Thanks for all the good info. It does makes sense to replace both. I took a look at the other one and it doesn't look too healthy at the moment either. I spent some time today shopping on the phone and found the best deal to be at Vick Autosports. The decision points changed when I decided to purchase two instead of finding just one side.
I really appreciate the great tip on one screw at a time. I would have certainly been the one that lost the backing inside the door and spent all day taking the door panels off. Otherwise, I would have just jumped in and taken both screws out without regard to what they are threaded in to.
I really appreciate all the help. I should be the lugs next week and hope their replacement will go without a hitch.
Thanks,
Ned
