Fiat northwest car show - then it happened

Post by danaspider »

Had not seen anyone post on the show so here it goes. The show was a great success with more than 80 cars showing up. We, the spiders were almost the largest group, until 28 Ferrari's all pulled in together (at least all the spiders were paid for). The were Lambo's, funky, cool doors, and not one of the owners ould back them up without stalling. (hmmmmm) Or in one case had someone there just to park it for them. Some pretty Alfa's, including a 68 Giulia 4 door. I love this car as my first was a 67 Giulia TI. And the regular group of spiders and a couple of beutiful GTV's. Ferrari's, a bunch mostly new, but a beuty from 69. A few Pantera's, which will represent the new Fiat/chrysler products probably. A couple of Masseratis, all new, raising the question of why would someone turn on there burgler alarm in a car show area. again hmmmmm. Maost beutiful of the cars were 4 Dino's, to me one of the most beutiful designs of all time. Remember it is really a FIAT!!!!

The Spider were mostly stock, except for me with no bumpers big wheels and such, but they are all great cars and everyone had fun. Bless all those that are drivers of their cars!!! And for you doubters the weather was great!!!!! No rain just nice and sunny and in the 60's. Which for us is bloody summer time.

So as the Lambos pulled out of the show, feeling that they had to thrill us all with the engine hitting redline, and then missing their shift from first to second!!! Now that was cool. Awards were being presented, nice stuff for all,

THEN IT HAPPENED - no nosie, but suddenly all of the folks at the awards just turned away from the announcer and started to mumble and stare............. There burbling quetly into the show was ..........

The Alfa Romeo 8C!!!! It only stayed for a few minutes, but it was amazing. As Top Gear said there is not an angle to view it from that it is not just beutiful!!!! Thenit drove off and our day was done.

Sorry Dino, but someday you may have to have a partner, at least in my dreams.

A great day!!!!!
Luck Dana

Glad you liked the show. I usually post show details in the Events section here, but no show recap as I didn't think anyone cared and I already put it in our Newsletter :D

The Alfa Romeo Competizione showed up after the show was over and most people had left. I was such a shame!

I do have a photobucket account for people to add pictures- it was posted on the club BS list :

FEN & FEN's show is fabulous

Post by VAS »

Hi, Darsella-

Congratulations on another wonderful event! As you may remember, I was present at your inaugural show. It was great and FEN continues to make it better each year.

The Best of France and Italy in LA, Automezzi in Denver and ItalianCarFest in Grapevine, Texas (it returns this year) are also terrific events and they benefit charity. I look forward to seeing firsthand an October event, Italian Fest, in Houston, Texas this year.

Thanks for your hard work. And to all the enthusiastic members of FEN we should also say "thank you" for what they do to promote these great cars and our hobby.

Wow- thanks everyone! I promise a recap of our events here from now on.

We raised/donated $1,000 to charity.

Just one thing to mention- those were Ferrari Dino's, not the Fiat Dino. I have never heard of anyone having a Fiat Dino here locally. The silver one is still owned by the original owner who purchased it in Italy.

Any local Fiat owners- we are participating in the NW Historics, Seattle Greenwood Car show and the Italian Concours, they need our support too and do a wonderful job.

And of course here's my car. Not everyone had seen it yet after it's "rebirth" from the former falling apart rust bucket. I don't think they believed me it was the same car (of course it is - the speedo died and it exploded anti freeze all over my engine on the way down). We also found a screwdriver tucked away in the engine bay at the show left over from Ray that had been there for almost a year. One of his classic signature touches- LOL! "Now where did I put that...?"

And Jerry- a lot of the parts on this car we purchased from Vicks before you took over. They went out of their way to find me a Nardi wheel and knew exactly what rare part I was talking about (as they have owned or parted 85.5's!)

Yes,thanks for sharing.I was speaking of the Ferrari Dino, also. Since it is a 6 cylinder, many F-car snobs dont acknowledge them.I have always thought they were a fantastic looking car.It might be a little nicer with V-12 though 8) .The Alfa 8C is HOT !!!
