I miss my car

Post by tonyfromjersey »

It's 114 degrees in the shade here in the Middle East. I've been working 14 consective 12 hour shifts, with 22 more to go before I get a day off. I guess this qualifies as my "one weekend a month" with my Air National Guard unit. Can't wait to get home and drive my car someplace with the wife and kids. After 21 years, I'm getting a little old for this crap.

At least I can read the forum here when I get a little slack time. In case you're wondering what the Middle East in the summer is like, just turn your blow dryer on "High" and stick it about 2 inches from your face. If there's a worse place on the planet, I'd like to hear about it.

Oh well, compared to the Army guys, it's a short tour,

Tony, does the 135 have a cargo door you could slip the 124 through? But I wonder how the car would run in the 114 deg. heat. As a matter of fact I wonder how anything runs in that, people or mechanical. I do tip my hat at all that serve, hope yours is a safe one.

The -135 does have a cargo door, and I'm sure I could get the car in there, we've put an entire TF-33 engine in one. It ain't pretty but it will work. It was a long day today, but productive. Tomorrow is much of the same. It used to be alot more fun when I got to fly every day but now I'm the "old man" running the show. Which is a truly scary thought. I actually run my squadron with a guy I used to be stationed with when we were young active duty Air Force pilots 20 years ago in Loring, ME. If they would have told us then "you two knuckleheads will be running this someday" I would have laughed my ass off.

23 days to go. Tomorrow the beer tent opens back up, and I can have my 3 beers and all will be right with the world. Except it will still be hot as hell, and dusty.

Thank God I'm not in the Army. 8)
