Replacing my top

Post by cpreiti »

Im changing my top out(which isnt easy). I believe that im going to need glue to install the new one. Is that correct? If so what kind is best for this vinyl top? Also I believe i need to remove some rivets? Can i replace with something else or do i have to replace with rivets?

Thanks

You're right, you will need glue. The front bow and the flaps over the bars get glued. I used gel contact cement and have had very good results. Most people will probably say 3M upholstery glue, which I would have gone with if I weren't used to the contact cement. Gotta be gel though.

Hi sorry to bug..you guys always give great advice...I'm stuck on how to glue the top to the back bar ? I can't find any pics anywhere....I have been working on the top so long I forgot what it's suppose to look like
I also order these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... %26otn%3D4

What a waste of money..they're just rubber tubes that are cut...they don't even bend straight
Has anyone used anything else to cover the bars.....

Sorry about this long reply ..I'm really stuck

Thanks for reading

by "back bar" do you mean the rail that is held in place by screws to the body? no glue there.

last i heard, Chris Obert had the correct plastic bow covers
