It seldom gets below 45 in the coldest part of winter. But we get the cool breezes off the ocean all year, so it could easily be in the low 60's here by the coast when it is over 100° about 20 miles away from the ocean. So, I keep the top down practically all the time, and open the heater valve whenever I feel a little chilled, or to keep the engine temps in control.

Alvon I will check my 72 radiator tomorrow to see how the brackets are attached. Welding I can easily do, soldering, the cleaning would be a problem.

ACE in order to do a completely meaningful test, a series of three tests would be required. One as the car is now, one changing to the external thermostat, and one with the different radiator. I can get an infrared thermometer to take temperatures during warmup. Warmup is where I would expect to see differences with the increased flow during closed thermostat operation. As I said I am willing to help with all this.

Agreed. Want to pick a Saturday or Sunday in the near future for experimenting? I'll need to get the 'T' first. I will send you pics of the other radiator and brackets. Please e-mail me, and I will reply with the pics, probably tomorrow.
