Dixie Fiatfest June 26-28

This promises to be a weekend filled with fun car events. Hope you'll join us in Winston Salem, NC for gokart racing, a time/distance rally and autocross, along with plenty of food June 26-28. I've been working hard to get everything in order and here's what I've come up with so far:
Pre-registration will be available once I get the website finished
Host hotel is The Hawthorne Inn http://www.hawthorneinn.com/ in Downtown Winston-Salem

Friday evening we'll have gokart racing at Greensboro Grand Prix http://www.grandprixgreensboro.com/

Saturday will be a time/distance rally through the Blue Ridge Mountains and a cookout will be at my house afterwards.

Sunday we'll have an autocross at Wake Forest University's football stadium parking lot.

May 22-24 is a joint Porsche and BMW club driver's ed event on the full track. Other brands of cars are welcome, but I believe you must be a member of one club or the other. Details are here: http://fst.pca.org/
No passengers will be permitted in the Porsches - not sure about BMWs. Come on up - at least we could visit. I'd love to come to your party, but it would be a 2-day trip each way - a second time.

Yes!!It is gonna happen.I am psyched about the weekend.Making reservations this week.Dave...that bear deserves a trip to Indiana.Denise is laying out the autocross course,the rally route,and driving the karts every day.Nah...no advantage there!!!

Hey fellas, no fair plotting against me. I hear the extra weight will give me more traction...I have a heck of a time drifting through the corners.

Craig, the bear will be wired so I'll be able to track it where ever it goes.
We're not going to have a car show but we'll have plenty of opportunities to check out each other's rides. The hotel has a great place for our parking lot gathering.

The time is drawing nearer so I thought I'd update everyone on a couple of changes that haven't been noted on the website yet. The venue for the Saturday night dinner has been changed to the Celtic Cafe ( http://thecelticcafe.com/ ) which is a nice little Irish pub. Also, since the hotel includes a decent breakfast with the rates we won't be having a breakfast buffet on Sunday at the Winston Eatery. I was able to negotiate a better price and got the room rate lowered to $85 per night.

I have driven the rally route and think everyone will be impressed with the roads and scenery!...and don't worry, I will disqualify myself from receiving a trophy for this event. (Happy Craig? )

The autocross will also be a blast. There will be a few different types of cars in the mix so we'll get to compete against the BMW 2002s and others. Everyone needs to make sure they bring a helmet. I'll have 1 or 2 extras, but if you have one, bring it.

I hope to meet and see many of you for this weekend event. If you are planning to attend, please take the time to register soon. Time is growing near and it will help me keep everything organized if I know how many people to plan for.

I already love the Celtic Cafe !! We are really looking forward to Fiatfest,especially since you told my wife she could drive your X Dont disqualify yourself from the rally on my account,I wanna beat you fair and square.I mean,just because you pre drive the course 2 or 3 times a day......

Even if I could drive the route 2 or 3 times a day, it doesn't mean I'll be good at it! The one and only time I drove it, we missed a turn and ended up 10 miles out of the way.

Good to hear you'll be coming over for our work day. That'll give us a full house for the 13th.
