Mark, that reminds me of a local specialist who uses reclaimed (i.e. recycled) ethylene glycol. What about the corrosion inhibitors - the ones that apparently run out after two years?

Is there a preferred brand for corrosion-inhibiting quality? I seem to have had a mixed result over the years. It starts off nice and green but goes rusty quite suddenly. One of my favourite local brands (for value) is Nulon.

If it's ran thru a recycling machine the additives should be replenished. By the time you buy the machine and all the filters and additives, it takes a long time to recoup your investment, and you still have to wonder if it's really as good as new.

Any opinions on a cooling additive as Water Wetter?

Would you be adding Water Wetter to a 50/50 mix? I don't see a need for it since antifreeze basically gives you everything this stuff is supposed to plus the protection of keeping your system from freezing. All my Fiats seem to run pretty cool on average.

I have an 88 Chevy 1 ton pick up. It started overheating on hot summer days. Both of them, here in Seattle. I tried Water Wetter and was amazed that it worked. The problem with using it is that the real issue with the vehicle is not resolved. I had major rusting in the coolant and it eventually clogged up my heater core. If I had replaced the radiator sooner I might have saved the expense of the heater core. Also, the Water Wetter seemed to lose effect over time and had to be replaced.

water wetter is good, I use 15% antifreeze and water wetter in my Nova and it runs cooler, but obviously doesn't have much freeze protection.

i time ago i was solving a heater problem , while doing this i just used water istead of coolant , because after 6 bottles of 5l cooland it became a lit pricey to always use new coolant. I must say now she runs on a 50/50 mix and it cools a lot more then just water , so i guess instead of using additives you can as wel mix 50/50
