Supercharged 1608
Here begins the saga of my latest project. The car will be a 1969 A coupe, the engine will be a fuel injected supercharged 1608. The car so far has rack and pinion steering and adjustable coil over shocks at all 4 corners. Most of the rest of the car will remain stock. I have built all the mounting hardware for the supercharger and injection system on a dummy block. I have just finished all the work on the head, new valves, guides, seats, port matching and valve unshrouding. The short block is complete with new balanced everything. The block and head went together today and will be whistled to check actual compression ratio, this weekend. The supercharger is an Ogura Clutch TX07. It is a positive displacement type with 730cc per revolution. I will be overdriving it by 1.7, this should give me approx 1/2 bar boost. The supercharger mounts on the passenger side of the engine , using the alternator mounting bosses. The alternator moves to the drivers side using a 2.0L mount. The supercharger has an electric clutch, which I am going to use. I have modified a 2.0L fuel injection plenum to have 2 inlets, 1 supercharged, 1 naturally aspirated. I will be using 19lb/hr Ford injectors. I have built TriY stainless stepped hedders. The engine control system will be an SDS system. This system will control both the fuel and the distributorless ignition. What cams I will be using is still up in the air. I have an Isky cam that has huge lift and duration that I am thinking of using on the exhaust side, don't need much on the intake side with the supercharger. Sounds like an awesome project and should be a mover when it's all buttoned up. Also sounds like a man with too much time on his hands! Good for you

That sounds absolutely wild Kind of lost me though after 'here begins...
Yeup it will move. Will the trans and rear end hold up or are they tweeked as well?

That's freaking awesome! I'd like to hear more about that clutched supercharger. I looks similar to an a/c clutch? You can run with without it on, so you must have 2 different fuel & ign curves? What are you using for engine management? Keep up the amazing work!

I hate to tell you, but I don't think that's going to fit into a Fiat engine bay. I don't know what I'm looking at, but dang, it's pretty! Can't wait to see what it can do.

It'll go in Denise, remember, Hal is the guy who added 7" to the front end of a Spider to fit a 5 litre V8 in!

Actually the engine has already been in the car, 1/2" clearance between the front corner of the plenum and the hood and the air box on the side of the supercharger is above the frame box. The air intake will come out in front of the radiator. Ron, I didn't have to add 6" to my spider I just did for other reasons. After the engine is finished I will document everything I have done to the suspension, coil over shocks, rack and pinion steering, and fitting Honda vented brakes. Yes the engine management system will control both running conditions, supergharged and naturally asprirated. That is the reason for 2 air inlet tubes running to the plenum. The naturally aspirated one has a flapper valve that is held closed when supercharged.

Hal, I was wondering about the second intake runner. Just curious, where does the naturally aspirated intake runner draw in fresh air? The same air box as the supercharger?

I thought sure you had to add the room in your engine bay for the bigger block, Hal. Next time we get together we'll have to spend some time so you can tell me why you did do it.
