well, just got my ebay carpet. Doesn't exactly match, but I think that as the carpet it will look fine. Funny thing about it is that it actually is about the same color as my old carpet (in the dirty spots, lol). Once my boss (read: wife) sews on the vinyl edging on pieces that need it, it'll look sweet.

I do need to cut two more pieces. My back two floor pieces are not there at all, so I don't know what size to cut these.... I have a vaque idea of the general shape because of pictures of the replacement sets, but that's it! Just had 5" of snow yesterday, so I can't get out to measure stuff yet. One other option is for a generous person to ship me their old back set for me to trace (i'd pay the shipping of course). ORRR, Carla, do you still have yours? I could stop by on a trip to my inlaws and trace em on the carpet right there!

Anyhoo, also just got the insulation, need to cut that for the floor too. I have all of those pieces (I think).

BTW, took my exactly 7ft (48" wide) to cut all pieces for the carpet (minus back two floor mats) so if you were really careful I bet you could get a whole carpet set from 3 yards.

Will I have enough insulation? i only got two yards....

I'd send you the nasty house carpet and padding that I pulled out of my Fiat but I threw it out weeks ago. Not even worth trying to use it as a guide.

Currently side tracked gutting my kitchen so I haven't checked/replaced the thermostat in the car and checked so seals before I install my carpet but 2 yards of insulation were just enough.

well, spent some more time this weekend on the car. Got 95% of the insulation/sound deadener in. Very impressed with the quality of that stuff, thanks for the find Carla. 2 yards was plenty, but I was thinking about buying some for the trunk too. I didn't even bother trying to use my old insulation as a guide, but I had no problems cutting this stuff to shape. the nice thing about the foil backing is that it helps you form the material to the proper shape.

I did put some filler styrofoam pieces in the indent behind the driver's seat (anybody else do that?).

I then cut the insulation to the appropriate sizes. it's glued with 3m adhesive too. Just for fun I pulled the new carpet out of the garage and test fitted it. it's gonna look wonderful I think. I also just ordered new vinyl to recover everything, so when I get the new trim vinyl on the carpet pieces it's gonna look sweet. I still have to cut the insulation for behind the map pockets and one other project I've got with those map pockets is to cover them in the new vinyl, as well as the cetner console, the rear panels, the door panels are coming off too and will be replaced (not recovered) with something new.

The installation of your insulation looks great, my husband tried to help me with mine so when he goes back on the road I'll fix it (I'm big into detail). Today I'm hoping to find and solve my heater box leak and overheat problem so I can resume the carpet install.

Question: "why cut the carpet in pieces instead of a solid install?"

Finally bad news, I lost a grand in Vegas so I have to behave for a couple of weeks before I buy anymore large ticket items.

You done with the carpet install yet? I'd like to see how it looks.
I haven't resumed mine, fixing the heater core first so the leak I have doesn't ruin all my effort.

Are you redoing the trunk? What did you use as a board?

Actually MOST of the carpet is installed. I need to take pics of where I'm at with that. Right now I need to finish sewing the vinyl edge on the floormats (about 1/3 done). I think it looks pretty good. Not showcar good, of course, but good!

Carpet will go in the trunk too, I used 3/4" MDF. It looks pretty cool. It's in two parts and the right half will lift up for storage or the spare if I decide to leave it in there (prob not) The center seam is supported with a 2x3 that is screwed to the left half and it sticks out to provide support to the right half. I think this will do a pretty good job of minimizing sagging over time. Certainly not the lightest solution, but it looks pretty good and probably could serve as a nice subwoofer box if I choose to do that in the future.

Danno,
I could use a picture of the underside of your dash, the passenger side. I have a circuit board next to the computer that was mounted with zip ties and I can't figure out how to mount it correctly. Can I also get a picture of your installed b/s quarter panel, I need to see the screw placement.

Also after first only ordering two seals for the core and valve replacement, I ordered the third, then lost one so I ordered a fourth, have the core and valve re-installed (did trim the short pipe for fit). Tested the fan and using a torch reshaped the casing around the fan that was warped due to heat.

I need info on where the ground wire goes. It was not connected to anything and the wiring diagram is not helping.

Sorry carla, major delay in reply to this as I've been moving and the Fiat has taken a back seat to all things house related.

I WILL take those pics for you as soon as I get the chance. be warned, however: my new house has NO garage, and what that means (cause my fiat wasn't in the garage before, but it's interior WAS) is that the fiat is full of parts that will need to be removed every time I want to work on it!!!!!
