out of the paint shop

Post by narfire »

yea,the car is ready for the summer...sort of. 80 FI
Picked it up from the shop a couple of weeks ago and have been putting it back together, and driving when I can.
This is the second go-around as the first paint job was a barter and they got the better deal. Two different shades and swirl marks left in the primer, where they used it.They don't go to the local pubs anymore, seems their faces keep running into fists from other unhappy customers.
Still some mechanical issues, but is drivable but not a long distance yet. Have a front crank seal to change and I want to take the head off and re-surface and put back together without anything but a head gasket.(last guy put some kind of gunk and the head is weeping oil).

Chris,

Nice wheels! Sort of a modern interpretation on the 5 star daytona mags. Are they Fiat bolt pattern or did you ned adapters.

Nope, they are 4 X 98's made in Italy. I was told they were well balanced, only a gram or two per wheel.
Bought from Clemente's 4 play autosport in Vancouver.

Chris - The car looks terrific! Of course I'm especially partial to the colour (heh, heh). The paint distributors will find it in their catalogues under Porsche Guard's Red 1967-2009 - Dupont also calls it Dale Jarrett #88 red - go figure. It requires a white base coat to turn out right.

Thanks for the complements. I'm looking forward to driving the car now the weather is more suited to top down.
I'm not sure how to link web sites but I "googled" Clemente 4 play autosport and his web site came up. I believe his brother is a contributor here" fire breathing fiats".
Not sure of the paint code, in BC we have a jobber store called Lordco similar to NAPA that did the mix for me.
Thought you might like the colour Peter,Theres a few older 911's around here as well.
This was in a zillion pieces once upon a time as well,Image
It does get better and is all worth it.
Now after re- shingling our roof, the better half said I might be able to look for another project.
