soda blaster?
soda blaster?
has any tried a soda blaster? HF has them for $99 or less. as I have fiat parts scattered all over the place,it's seeming a shame to put it back together without some cleanup. I would however not want anything to change the texture of the aluminum parts. any pics of resulting parts?

Re: soda blaster?
I use glass beads and like the result, but I've never tried soda. Is it reusable or disposable? I thought I read it was one time use.

I assumed it was disposable but I really don't know. at least you would'nt need an enclosure as well. btw your engine looks great.

Not only his engine wengr. His whole car looks great. I met Trey (htchevii) last year at a gas station on the way to the Oregon 08 campout. At first I thought our cars were twins, but upon closer inspection, I saw that mine was his car's ugly brother!

I have a blast cabinet, it's nice cause you don't make a big mess and can reuse the media.
Thanks Ron, it might not be quite so fresh @ Oregon this year, it's got a few more than the 100 miles it had when you saw it. You are going, right? I'm trying to get the '72 done in time & Dan Wilson Is working madly on his '78. He's got Jon Logan building him a sweet engine.

Yes Trey, we are planning on going up this year. I'll have a different chick with me this trip. Mom says she can't stand that much fun (remember last year's overheating problem), so my wife will be the eye candy this year.

I use a media blaster with great results. And I built a small box with a tarp on the ground and hardly wasted any blast material. You'll want to wear a respirator.
Hey Trey, What color silver did you paint your engine. That's how I want my eng. to look.

Re: soda blaster?
I forgot to say, Mine cost $135.00 and they were selling the media blast material for $23.00(50 lb.)
I thought that was a good deal. I realized you could get the same media for about $10.00. Figure out what co. sells the media and call around. Don't pay too much and waste your money.

Re: soda blaster?
thanks Brady, I used Vht Cast Blast. Eastwood also sells a similar paint. The engine on the stand is the 1438 I'm putting in the 72 in a few minutes! Wish me luck!
