new top

I've put on a new top on my 1980 spyder and it seems to be too tight for the handles to snap down on the window. Ive retried a number of times to make it so both ends are in the right position. Is it possible to set the windshield back a little to compinsate?

yikes! be careful. that windshield has little room to move before the vent windows have their own clearance issues.

the front bow is adjustable in and out. will that help any?

talked to a guy yesterday that said his canvas top shrunk, and the day he forced it to latch.... when the closed the doors, it cracked the windshield.

When I put my new top(IAP canvas) on last year,it did'nt latch and in fact was about 1 inch short. BUT the weather was cold so I just left it and the first warm day with sun , left it outside for 4-5 hours. Got closer, enough to contact the latches but not to close completely. Left it like that untill next warm day. Same thing, after several hours the latches were tight but I did close it properly. Today I have to pull a bit but they do close. The latches do have some adjustment as well as the header bow being able to slide back and forth a bit.
Good luck & don't force the thing,. Watch the latches as too much pressure/tension they can tear at the clamp part.

Tannx. I do have a little room between the window and the draftless. But how would I adjust it?
