Weber 44's were used on the abarth spiders with a 1608 engine...so the 48's might not be overkill for a 2 liter. However you probably need a compression increase or performance cams to make full use of the carbs. Check similar sales on Ebay for a ballpark price.

I have been down the 48 road, and strongly recommend you don't go there. You will have to make MAJOR breathing mods, ignition improvements, have extremely high compression, and even then it will be at the margin for kind of use on the street. 44s work OK with significant mods, even on a 1608.

The 36s will offer a little in the way of performance gains, but I would use a 34 ADF or similar carb instead. Much cheaper and little mods required. That said, the IDFs will look and sound great!

On my current 2.0L project, I am using 40mm TBs. On this application, that is the equivalent to 45 IDFs. Even with an SDS management system, distributorless ignition and many other mods, it will take some serious dyno time to get it properly mapped and make it strong and tractible.

40's are the best for street cars, and even then it requires cams, compression and a good ignition to really dial it in and get all of the power boost available while making a smooth street car.

Id really like to see the map for your ign system. I know itd be drastically different than mine. Are the ign and fuel systems separate? I found monitoring the eng temp to be a good test for to much spark advance.

Thanks alot for your insight here ,I was just thinking to get the set fairly cheap , but that isn't the case i've informed and there not a sweet deal @ all .In fact they are more expensive then the new ones
The IDF'36 would i have bought to learn how they work , rebuild them , adjust them , i have a spare sweptback manifold so i can swith back to my 40's when going completly in the mist THe 36's are available from 78-150$ if you look out woldwide shipping max out on 50-75$ ,if patient They appeared also to be on the alfa romeo and suddenly i see them everywhere

After the voices telling me to buy fiat stuf and now starting to see things ?

Luckely for me there's a wife that gets me back on the ground with a firm NJET , and as lousy excuse , we cant eat Webers , can we ? ...

i'll learn it some other time lots of stuf to do so

I hear you! This would be a great passion and hobby were it not for those spouses. Then on the other hand, without them we would likley be figuring out how to eat those carbs.....
