I am curious if anyone has installed a high perf. ign. module on their F.I. Spider? There is one listed in the Vicks catalog, for around $100.I wonder if the results are worth the money.I have installed these units in other makes with pretty good results, usually with a hotter coil.I am all for bolt on performance, especially on the F.I. cars where upgrades are limited.

Re: High Performance ignition module
I've used a couple of them, but not what Vicks' sells, and had good results. Along with an e-coil it creates a great spark with higher revs

I'd like to hear more details about this. I am a "keep it original" kind of guy, but a little more pep might help me keep up with Ace on the runs.

Re: High Performance ignition module
I got a Accell coil & module off Ebay, paid $50-60 for both. I don't know if they helped performance, but they look better
The MSD one is supposed to be the best.

Re: High Performance ignition module
I'm running the MSD box with Blaster II coil on my 72 and the original 79 model setup with GM module on my 71. It's hard to determine which is best since my cars are completely different. I doubt paying more for a better ignition system would help my poor ole 71 but I had my 72 dynoed before and after the engine rebuild and swap to the MSD. At around 6200 rpms the chart showed irratic ignition issues before but was more consistant after.

Re: High Performance ignition module
This is something I am going to look into, thanks for the feedback.Mark, what is a e-coil...brand name or a type of coil? I see several 'hotter' coils for fairly cheap, any reccomendations on type or brand? I will look into my Summit catalog, thanks for the part no., Matt.
Thanks, Craig

Re: High Performance ignition module
I think the e-coil is a factory Ford coil, but for what I don't know. Here's the Mallory replacement: http://www.dragracingonline.com/itsnew/iv_8_1.html

Re: High Performance ignition module
Henry, it can be installed in your car.I bought the module and an Accel coil from Summit Racing.Truthfully,I cant really tell much of a difference. After running the module for a few weeks ,it failed..quit..gone. Had a time figuring out what was wrong.I have the stock module back in,and I bought a spare for $20 at Autozone.
