Rear shelf on 83-85 Spiders

Post by ga.spyder »

Would one of you 83-85 owners(or anyone who has customized the rear of a earlier car) snap a couple pix of your rear 'package shelf'? I am thinking of eliminating my rear seat, and building something more usable.Maybe mount a couple speakers,etc..Thanks

Thanks ,Europa. I cant duplicate that w/o the molded piece for the back/seat belt cover. Some of the guys that have eliminated the seats will post something,I hope.I have the seat out to replace the belts, would be a good time to build something.

A little more what I had in mind, but I want to keep a little shelf. Also, does he have any seat belts? Maybe he just uses lap belts,as I dont see the shoulder belt anywhere.

Craig - Here's mine, which is removable and flat. Still useful for groceries or whatever. The speakers are connected with mini jacks, for quick removal and replacement with the original seat cushion. I get excellent sound out of the 6 x 9 speakers, mounted to padded 5/8" particleboard.

Peter,I like that idea.Makes the space a little more user friendly ,but it would be easy to take it back to stock.I really like the way Pinninfarina did the 83-85's,but I would have to find that molded piece for the back...probably impossible! Anyone out there with a 83-85 parts car :?:
