FIAT GUYS IN NC

Post by DploydAgain »

Gang,
I just moved to Ft. Bragg/Fayetteville, NC and my '81 will be shipped from Indiana soon. :D Just wanted to know if anyone knows of any reputable mechanics/shops in this area that do decent work on Fiats. I don't mind tinkering, but want the best treatment for my baby if things go bad. Thanks!!

Welcome to the group. Why don't you tell us more, on the Introductions page. You're only 116 miles from Denise (mdrburchette on this forum), who knows everything about Spiders! :D We'll all help you with just about anything.

Welcome to the forum and to North Carolina! The closest shop I know of that specializes in Fiats is Apex in Raleigh:
http://www.apexvintage.com/ It was the shop of a well known Fiat racer, Peter Krause, and is still run by his partner.

All:
Thanks for the kind words as well as the assist. I've actually been a member of the site for about a year...I returned from yet another overseas deployment at that time and purchased my spider. I really wish I had time to enjoy my baby a bit more, but the Army (and the Indiana weather!) keep me from getting out as much as I'd like. The wife takes her for a drive/engine turn over about once a week if the weather's good. If not, the engine gets turned over in the garage!! I'll try to post pics in the future. She is an automatic and has both hard and rag tops and runs well. ...If I remember correctly, about 38,000 original miles on her. I hope to make it to the Carolina FLU event, and need to become a member. Again, thanks for the info and the welcome.
As you set out in your convertibles this Spring, remember our men and women overseas, who allow us the freedom to drive and enjoy our "babies".

dployedagain,
Thanks for what you do for our country!! You do not have to be a FLU member to attend DFF,although FLU is a great org. dedicated to keeping these cars on the road. You are a brave man...letting the Mrs. drive your Spider! See you in June.

I just found out yesterday that my Beloved got into my Baby and she wouldn't turn over!! She has no idea what the problem is and is going to "sniff" take it into the shop..."sniff,sniff"...It's tough on an Old Soldier. She swears she just turned it over last week, but now...it barely "clicks". So....hopefully it's up to running speed when it gets here in June. Also, Denise, Ma'am, do you know of anyone in the NC area that has another Fiat for sale? I'm thinking a decent cheap/fun/almost parts=type car to just have some fun with here in Fayetteville until mine gets here.

If you were into X19s I would have the perfect car for you. I just brought home another one and am willing to give up my Devil X to a good home.

batteries tend to emty on warp speed I've already lost 3 batteries on my spider. If only she clicks i would try with jumper cables from another car and try again ?
