I'm going to get into the cooling system in the next week or so if not this weekend and I am wondering what should I expect? I know that the motor sits higher than the radiator and have read the chapter on the cooling system but, it always helps to get an experienced view point on the subject B4 starting. This is what I intend on doing.
1) drill out thermostat
2) Replace radiator with new one (found one locally for $60.00 Cash) Seems that this lady's brother, a Fiat guy, was rebuiling one for her and it got stolen. Picked up lots of parts for 120.00 total including a new in the box altinator.
3) Put back together with new hoses.
4) new radiator cap.
Really would like some input on flushing out the old coolant. Do I just run a hose through the head? Via the coolant hoses of course.
Also, any advice on what happens when your fiat overheats? Concerning the head.

Re: Cooling System
when your fiat over heats so do you. dunn let it happen.
I'd take the time to have the replacement radiator pressure tested before you go to all that work installing it.
secondly, i have a Chris Obert authored step-by-step procedure that i'd gladly email to you, and a picture of where/how to install a T-fitting for ease of filling and flushing the system.
