Michigan BUMPERETTES
Michigan BUMPERETTES
o.k. the long awaited pictures of prototype #1 BUMPERETTES are presented below. Please note that if you look very closely, you might be able to see the LED marker lights inside the headlights.
Hopefully, by the end of the summer, i will have produced the finished product, and will be able to sell them as a kit at a reasonable price:
alrighty then. flame suit is within arms reach.

Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
Mike, could you mount a piece of black rubber over those bits of metal that stick out and then we can call them Abarth Bumperettes
I get the idea - it may start to grow on me, I'm interested in the headlight and indicator setup !
Flame On !

Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
I gotta love them, cauz I got your old struts! But seriously, if you wind the left in a clockwise fashon, and the right counterclockwise, will it do circles?
Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
Adrian, as soon as i get the kinks worked out on the LED lights, i will post a full report.
Dave, Stop up and giver a try... i haven't attempted the propeller trick yet.

Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
Mike,
I have those bumperettes on the front of one of my Spiders. I haven't done anything with the rear because the angle looks wrong.
The angle seems OK on yours, though. Are the rears you have the same part as the fronts, or are they slightly different?
Also, mine were mounted using a bunch of washers as spacers. Will your kit include a nice spacer setup?
I like the look and am interested in the kit idea.
Thanks,
Ernie

Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
Would it be possible to see some not installed? I am curious about how they are constructed. BTW great work and you are very generous to offer to construct kits. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

Looks nice, I also like the turn signals inside the headlights. I found something similar on ebay if you look up tbar head lights there are some there with the turn signals inside. Yours look better than the ebay ones though. You can see the light bulb inside the headlight.

Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
i agree mark. and, i hadn't thought of that until i pulled a shock from the rear to design the bumperette. So Cal Mark wrote:now your tailpipe is too long
unfortunately, there's no cash-0-la left in the budget this year for the replacement.
Re: Michigan BUMPERETTES
the rears are slightly different, the length of the tube is longer in attempt to fill the grommet.Ernie wrote:Are the rears you have the same part as the fronts, or are they slightly different?

not spacers, a full 1 3/4" tube is used to take full advantage of the original design mounting points.

i dunno about the "gentleman & scholar" comment. however, my grandkids like me.4babycar wrote:Would it be possible to see some not installed? I am curious about how they are constructed. BTW great work and you are very generous to offer to construct kits. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
i am going for a no-skill-required kit, which requires the installer to know nothing more than how to pull the exising bumper shocks and replace them. so, if you've seen your shocks out of the car, these will look fairly familiar. the biggest obstacle (other than what to do about lights) is removing the fuel tank.
