Fiat audio recording
Fiat audio recording
I've been contacted by a Sound Editor / Sound Effects Recordist, Rob Nokes, who needs to record 'Fiat sounds' for a movie. I am scheduled to meet with him early Sunday morning (March 29, 7:30 AM) in a remote area about 25 miles east of Lancaster for a few hours. I suggested to him that he may want to have more than one Fiat on hand, since they don't all sound the same, and he may have a better selection to choose the sounds he wants. If anyone is interested to participate or observe the recording session, please contact me. Please note that any extra folks on hand will need to be absolutely silent during the recordings, so as not to interfere with the focus of his work.

Re: Fiat audio recording
Because this starts so early, and Lancaster is so far away for most of you So Cal'rs, I've extended a welcome for anyone who wants to come up Saturday afternoon and stay at my place overnight. There's plenty of room for people, and if we need more parking space for cars, I'll just move a few sagebrush to the side. Phone me if you'd like to come and I'll give directions.

I'm working in Ventura until Saturday, so I won't be home until later in the afternoon, but my wife (Krissy) is very accomodating if you are there before I get home.
(I should probably to let her know.)

Not going to make it to this one. Sounds like fun though. I am going to get up to Lancaster at some point though. Ventura too. Keep the light on for me.

The Antelope valley does have that reputation Rey. Good thing we're traveling in a pack.

I can't say that this hasn't crossed my mind. But, I was contacted through trusted friends, and the audio recordist has good credentials ( http://www.robnokes.com/), so I think it's probably OK.spiderrey wrote:ace are you sure this guys not just waiting for you in the middle of the desert with some duct tape and a shovel.
Who knows? Maybe you'll be watching the credentials at the end of a movie one day and see "Fiat sound from Ace Elrod's 124 spider". It's my chance to become famous!! Should be a fun drive anyway -- all the wildflowers and bugs are out in full force.
I didn't get free from work to go on the Targa Tour that started yesterday, but I heard from a guy today that went on the yesterday's drive, and he says that it is even better than last year. That is, except for one section when he got hammered by a swarm of bees that splattered his windshield and got swept into the front seat with him. He pulled off the road when he got free about 1/4 mile away, and swished all the bees out of his lap that were stunned and just crawling around to find something to stick their little stingers in. He did get stung once in the face.
I always look forward to a drive in the spider.

Re: Fiat audio recording
my bad, i thought u were already famous...
Re: Fiat audio recording
Ace's interview on the "Superbowl Strut" video has now been watched 895 times. ( that is individual viewers, not ace sitting in his office re-watching it over and over and over again.. lol) That video is still getting like 20 views a day.spiderrey wrote:my bad, i thought u were already famous...
I'd say Ace is locally WORLD famous!
He drove the new 500. He, and his car ( in the above mentioned video) have been seen by people in Italy, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Britain, Brazil, Venezuela, and of course the good old US of A.
He drove all the way to the Freakout last year...
He is going to be our treasurer when we finally get all our ducks in a row for the SoCal FLU chapter.
Pretty famous in my book! Pretty famous indeed!

Re: Fiat audio recording
Fiat sounds needed? Too bad I'm not in California, he could record my clacking tappets, the horrible noise from the waterpump, and that mystery thunk from the front of the engine. Could also record my typical responses to these issues - I hope it's an R rated movie!
