79 SIDER...Who needs what????

Post by Gyuri69 »

And we're off......I've stripped the car and she is ready for paint :D And after talking to Mark (who must think I'm nuts) I'm changing everything!!!!! Engine is a 2L carb.....changing to a 2L FI Turbo
Interior is Tan..... changing to black with after market seats
Dash and Inst. panel.......changing to one of Mark's fancy fiberglass jobs
Front bumpers........ changing to rubber stubs (still looking and still don't know what they're called)
ETC. ETC. ETC.

So as you can see I'll be removing a lot of stuff and if someone could tell me how to post pics in these posts I will put some in.

And by the way..... this car was in almost mint original cond. NO RUST ANYWHERE!!! never painted engine original etc. bought it from a guy who had it covered and parked in a garage in Arizona for almost 20 years.

I'll post stuff on the for sale section later, but if you need something and know it's something I no longer will need.....Just ask :D

hey call those bumperettes''Abarth blocks''.The Abarth versions came like that. You might ask Mark,he has been working on some for a while.I am waiting,as the others(Spiderpoint,Bruces )are pretty expensive. How are the seats that are coming outt,do they have 'the lean' ?

The seats in later spiders often developed a backward lean due to their chincy construction. Though none of the spiders were completely immune from this (depending of course on size/weight/gerth of owner and his/her tendancy to pull the convertible top closed from a seated position!) the 79+ seats I think were the worst. I think they corrected this by the last few model years though.

Are you changing out the seat belts to go with the different seats? Might be interested...always kicked around the idea of having shoulder belts!
