Congrats on the purchase. I just finished cleaning up a filthy low mileage car (another make) for my wife, and my Spider was also filthy when purchased. I think some POs simply left the tops down and out in the open all the time without ever cleaning up. For the same reason mine was rusty underside of seats and floorboards (under the seats) because of rain, so you might want to check those areas. But I agree that a good solid body and overall low mileage are worth money, so you should have no regrets. Just enjoy!
Don't be embarassed to show pictures. We all know that the superficial stuff is not the whole story!

Dave!
This doesn't sound like a bad purchase at all!
Think about it. You got a (maybe) low mileage car in the very last year of production, of a much storied manufacturer that only badged one car. Yours.
The only way this story could get any better is if you had, but for some reason didn't see it... a supercharger... lol
regardless, how is $3,500.00 too much to spend on a 1985 Pininfarina Spider? Even if mileage was 249k...
In my opinion, Spiders are so completely under priced, that in a few years $3,500.00 will sound cheap for a parts car.

Well I finally got the car home last night and I'm starting to think I got a really good deal not too mention I absolutely love it!
Anyway, got a good look at the frame etc. no rust at all there. Has the original jack and stuff, window crank all that even finally got the glove box open, which was stuck, and found the Pininfarina manual in there and some service records in an envelope. The guy who owned would write down notes on little pieces of cardboard (usually the parts box label)of what he had done and the mileage. Stuff like 4 new shocks @ 27,385 mile in feb. 1999 etc. I guess I couldn't see thru all the dirt at first, you know how it is. Anyway, lots of cleaning to do and stuff like timing belt, fluid changes etc. before I really get it out on the road. I'll update with some pictures in this thread as soon as I can. Thanks again all.

I think you have joined the majority in your opinion about the deal you got. I believe most of us think you got a good deal.
Anxious to see the pictures.
