Gary's 1969 124 Spider on YouTube!

Post by SpiderHead »

While we were out at Steve Eubanks house on Saturday, Gary was kind enough to let me do a walk around his 1969 Spider with him "telling the tale" as we went.

That is such a unique car, its a real boon to the Fiat badge that he and his dad have taken such good care of it since the day it was new!

Thanks Gary!

Oh, and don't forget to rate the video 5 stars and comment people! We got 2 of my video's into the top 4 by doing that. Lets make it 3!

Truly excellent, Ryan . . . and Gary. The key reason Gary's car is such a great car is the love and care that it has received thru the years by Gary. You do a super job with presenting it, Ryan. Great stuff, Gary!

I was fortunate enough to ride in this car halfway across the country and back a couple years ago with Gary, in route to the Italian Car Fest in Grapevine, TX for final judging of the Best Fiat Spider in North America. Gary's was one of the 4 finalists. Believe me, it runs as good as it looks!

WOW!!! well done, very impressive. The 69 looks great. When I was 19 I bought a 70 that was only a few years old and I could have only wished it looked half as good as this one.

That is a beautiful spider. Thanks for sharing it with us Ryan. Very enjoyable video.
I kinda glad I wasn't there. Those cars all put mine to shame.

Holy spaghetti crap!

This video hit the first page when searching Fiat Spider inside of 48 hours!

How long until we can get one to go viral?

Mark, you got a new car mount video system... and you drive like the devil himself is chasing you... make us a video that is almost scary please!

perhaps we should try to script a Fiat video, to make it dramatic...

hmmm...

I'm thinking track day here. We could have some drama leading up to it... some prep footage... some race footage... and a winner celebrating in his beer, as a loser drowns his sorrows in the beer supplied by the winner!

P.S. if you haven't rated, or commented yet.. go do it now! This is working!

Sorry for the double post.. but this is enough different to warrant an entire new post!

Since I am an honorary member of the Austin Healey club (Dad is a member)... how about a "track day" challenge... They send their best/most willing against the SoCal Fiat boys. Wow, now THAT might go viral on youTube.

and how much fun would a "war" between England and Italy be?

The way I see it, this wouldn't be a fender to fender race at all... screw that... I would cry if there was body contact. Purely a lap time battle.

Gawd, if we won... think of the bragging rights! and if we lost, we just say "yeah, but look what we lost to"... its a no lose situation for us... and honestly, I've driven some fantastic Healeys, and they don't turn in or hold their line anything like a Fiat Spider... or at least anything like mine.

At the Healey event, I was constantly hugging what ever Healey was in front of me. Not on purpose, really, I wasn't driving hard... but regardless of who I was behind there was tire noise from the healey in front of me when my Spider was practically begging me to give it more gas.

so fellas? what do you think?

Go for it! We'll have our own little contest on the east coast in June. It's always a big fight between the Fiats and BMW 2002 group.

Are roll bars required for convertibles at the track events that you participated? Most of us don't have them.

I tried to do a video the weekend that I got the camera. My intent was to re-drive the Turkey Trot route, but there was so much traffic (an endlless procession of SUVs going to the snow) that I turned around and came home

no, because it is not wheel to wheel racing.

its a "run what you brung" event. The only limitation are cars that are obviously unsafe.

Irwindale does it too.. and might be cheaper than Fontana. I'll call them tomorrow to find out what it costs, what they provide for that cost..etc.

Just so everyone is clear, this is a track we set up for ourselves in the massive parking lot.

Not an SCCA event.. lol

Club car stuff. The Healey boys will want long straights, as the ones in race trim are capable of 120... lol.. but a parking lot cone race doesn't have room! Advantage Fiat!

I'll bet the X1-9's and the Scorps will tear it up.

Maybe we should do it a couple of times before we invite the BLOODY Austin Healey chaps to race against us eh?

lol

I was thinking more Willow Springs or Buttonwillow for a track day, not an autocross
